The design by architect Kengo Kuma expresses a Japanese welcoming style with its voluminous plain wood eaves and the pond that wraps around the entrance reminiscent of uchimizu (a traditional Japanese water sprinkling ceremony). In addition, the Sogetsu Ikebana exhibit in the main lobby changes every month, allowing you to enjoy the changing of the seasons.

Opposite the reception is "Untitled," a work by Toko Shinoda, a leading female artist of ink-wash abstract painting, which was displayed in a suite room in the old hotel, and opposite, on the back of the reception, is "Yutaka," a new work that Shinoda painted in conjunction with the reconstruction of the hotel. The two opposing works symbolize the connection between the old and new hotels and welcome guests.
