SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

At THE YOKOHAMA BAY HOTEL TOKYU, we deeply recognize the perspective of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and strive to be a beloved hotel rooted in the community, actively participating in local festivals and events to contribute to the local community.

We have obtained certification under the 8th "Yokohama City SDGs Certification System 'Y-SDGs'".

1.Environmental activities

Environmental impact reduction

Green Coin Green Card

If you do not use the designated amenities during your stay, please bring the provided "Green Coin" to the front desk, and it will be donated to our environmental conservation fund. Additionally, by presenting your "Green Card," you agree to room cleaning and linen changes every three days during consecutive stays, contributing to reducing the burden on the global environment.

Green Coin Forest

TOKYU HOTELS recruits volunteers from employees and is engaged in forest conservation activities in Yamanashi Tanbayama Village, contributing to the conservation of Tokyo's water sources and the utilization of abandoned farmland.

Towards amenities with a low environmental impact

We have eliminated plastic straws in our restaurants and switched to paper straws, and we have also switched from providing drinking water in plastic bottles in guest rooms to water dispensers installed on each floor.

Energy conservation

Cool Biz

As a hotel that positions itself as an "urban oasis," our hospitality staff wear cool aloha shirts during the summer months. Office staff are also allowed to wear no ties and short-sleeved shirts, and we implement Cool Biz measures to adjust the room temperature.

Elevator usage restrictions

For employee use, stairs are used to move between floors directly above or below the elevator.

Introduction of energy-saving equipment

LED lighting, motion-sensor lighting, and sensor-activated faucets have been installed.

2. Initiatives to promote local production and consumption

Kanagawa/Yokohama Fair

We are hosting a buffet featuring a menu of locally sourced products, emphasizing "local production for local consumption." During the event, we invite producers to join us to promote their prized products and provide opportunities for them to interact with our customers.

Collaboration menu development

At the request of students from Ferris University, we jointly developed the student cafeteria menu. We also held a special lecture by a chef on the "importance of food."
Additionally, Kanagawa co-developed a menu for the 'Cafe Toska' Christmas buffet with students from Ritsu Commercial High School. We also held classes on ingredients and product composition necessary for menu creation.

3. Charity activities

Christmas charity gift

We widely collect gifts from hotel staff and guests, delivering Christmas presents to children at child welfare facilities within the Kanagawa. In 2024, as many as 1,265 gifts were collected.

Volunteer cleaning

The morning after the fireworks display, Yokohama Royal Park Hotel, Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel, and another hotel jointly conducted a cleanup activity in the Minato Mirai area, dividing the work amongst themselves to ensure efficiency.

4.Support activities

Supporting disaster-stricken areas through a food fair

Cooking fairs using products from disaster-affected areas such as Miyagi, Kumamoto, and New Zealand are held in cooperation with local governments and embassies. We call for 'Eat and Support!'

Cooperation in guide dog training activities

We donate the funds collected at the front desk and in the restaurant to the Japan Guide Dog Association, a foundation that supports the training of guide dogs.

Participation in the Eco-Cap Campaign

We collect plastic bottle caps every month and donate the proceeds from their sale to organizations that provide vaccines to developing countries.

5. Initiatives with the local community

Goodnight Card

The "Goodnight Card" is a message of "goodnight" delivered to guests on the special floor. With the support of the Kanagawa Shimbun newspaper, we solicited original artwork from elementary school students in Yokohama City and also held an exhibition of the submitted works.

Participation in the Waiters Race

The only official competition in Japan sanctioned by "The International Waiters Race Community" is held in Yokohama, and our hotel has participated in every event since its inception. We have a track record of winning first place in the team competition and the women's division, and second place in the individual division.

Participation in the campaign

In support of local government and other organizations' light-up campaigns, we have cooperated by changing the lighting on the upper part of the building's exterior walls to cherry blossom pink to coincide with the "Sakura Festa" held in Minato Mirai, blue to express gratitude to healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and green in honor of "Environment Day" (June 5th).

The Three Musketeers of Minato Mirai

In addition to the three hotels mentioned earlier (the "Three Musketeers"), we developed joint plans with surrounding commercial and tourist facilities. This resulted in synergistic effects in public relations and sales promotion, leading to a complete sell-out and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We'll have a stall at the Minato Mirai Grand Bon Festival.

We set up a food stall at the "Grand Bon Odori" festival held annually during the Obon season at Rinko Park. We offer original menus with a focus on unique flavors, which are very popular with local residents.

6. Others

Tokyu Kids Program

The "Tokyu Kids Program" offers children a career experience set in a hotel. Dressed in tuxedos, the children experienced working as hotel staff, distributing wedding programs, assisting with the event's production, and greeting guests at the reception hall. (Organized by Tokyu Corporation)

Barrier-free

Most of the hotel facilities are wheelchair accessible (excluding the pool area). We also offer "accessible rooms" equipped with facilities that are easy for wheelchair users to use, and we have experience hosting foreign teams with disabilities at international sporting events.

Acceptance of commissioned students and interns

We have a track record of accepting interns, primarily from hotel management schools and culinary schools, as well as university students from Japan and abroad, for the purpose of gaining work experience. Under the guidance of experienced staff, the students' hands-on experience in a real work environment is beneficial to their learning.

(Some activities are currently suspended due to the current social situation.)
