TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. Announces Appointment of New President
Takashi Takei appointed as President
TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD.
TOKYU HOTELS & RESORTS CO., LTD. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "the Company") is pleased to announce that at the General Meeting of Shareholders and the Board of Directors held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a resolution was passed to change the President and CEO, and that Takashi Takei has been appointed as the new President and CEO, effective the same day.
Background to the appointment of the new president
Based on our medium-term management plan, we are working to improve the sustainability of our business structure, strengthen our customer base, and improve our brand quality. In fiscal 2024, the first year of the plan, we achieved results that far exceeded our targets by steadily capturing demand, including the increase in foreign visitors to Japan, and promoting measures such as strengthening our customer attraction and management systems and improving management quality.
Takashi Takei, the new president, is at the center of the organization and is driving change in response to the business environment, including growth strategies centered on new store openings and brand reorganization, and formulating and promoting structural reforms in times of adversity. Most recently, he has also been the central figure in hotel operations as general manager of the CERULEAN TOWER TOKYU HOTEL, the flagship hotel of TOKYU HOTELS and a landmark of Shibuya that attracts attention from around the world.
Going forward, we will further improve our brand competitiveness and expand our hotel management contracts both in Japan and overseas, and vigorously promote our growth strategy by expanding our network with an eye on the global market. Based on his extensive experience and track record, he has been appointed to this position.
Vision for the new organization
Under the new structure, we will continue to work to increase corporate value based on the current medium-term management plan. However, in anticipation of the company's sustainable growth into the future, Takei has three areas of particular importance:
- 1
-
"New urban and regional development" as a destination - From Shibuya to the world -
We will spread this new model of town and community development, centered around hotels, that attracts people from all over the world, to the world.
- 2
-
Cultivating an open mind that will not give in to adverse conditions - Looking ahead and creating the wind ourselves -
We will discard preconceived ideas, always take on new challenges that others have not tried, and share them with the world.
- 3
-
Promoting Well-Being Management that Provides Spiritual Fulfillment - Making Hotels a Place for Deeper Connections -
We contribute to sustainable business and society by creating hotels that are loved by the town, the region, and the people.
Message on assuming the position
My name is Takashi Takei, and I have been appointed President and CEO of TOKYU HOTELS & Resorts Co., Ltd.
As the long winter caused by the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end and the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan continues to increase, the world situation is facing chaotic and unstable conditions, including regional conflicts and competition between major powers. As the world becomes more chaotic and the future becomes more uncertain, hotels, and TOKYU HOTELS in particular, have been entrusted with this important role at a time when they are being forced to make important decisions about what strategy they should choose.
What can a hotel do for the world? We will return to the origins of this strategy and take on the challenge of innovation.
We want the hotel to be more than just a place to stay, dine, and gather; we want it to develop into a base for co-designing towns and regions, and a destination for travel and events.
We operate a wide range of hotel brands in attractive locations across Japan, from major cities such as SHIBUYA, a global travel destination, to resorts surrounded by nature.
Each hotel will foster a corporate culture of "enjoying change and challenges with a smile," while promoting the creation of hotels and towns that will become destinations for travel and events that can withstand the changes of the environment.
We look forward to your continued support and cooperation in the future.
