Sustainable initiatives linked to local cultures are highly regarded
HAKATA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU, HAKATA TOKYU REI HOTEL (Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City / General Manager: Kenji Ikeda) is pleased to announce that on April 27, it simultaneously obtained the "4 Gyoikou Cherry" certification for evaluating accommodation facilities' environmental and social initiatives, the "Sakura Quality An ESG Practice" (hereafter, Sakura Quality Green).
This certification is a comprehensive evaluation of initiatives to realize sustainable tourism, such as environmental considerations, coexistence with local communities, and sound management systems. The "4 Yellow Cherry Blossoms" is an evaluation given to facilities that practice these initiatives at a high level, and is the result of the evaluation of various initiatives that TOKYU HOTELS has continuously promoted.
About Sakura Quality Green
Sakura Quality Green is a Japan-based ESG certification system for accommodation facilities operated by Sakura Quality Management Co., Ltd. Based on evaluation criteria aligned with the standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which is widely referenced as an international framework for sustainable tourism, the system evaluates 172 items, including environmental considerations, coexistence with local communities, and governance, and evaluates facilities on a five-level scale according to their achievement. The evaluation criteria are set in stages according to their difficulty, and all criteria must be met to obtain the highest rating, "5 Gyoiko Sakura".
Regarding initiatives and evaluations
In obtaining this certification, the two facilities collaborated, striving to create new value for guests by incorporating the culture of Hakata, a city that has developed as a port city since ancient times. Both facilities incorporate interiors featuring motifs from Hakata-ori textiles and the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, offering guests the charm of local culture as an experience. Furthermore, they prioritize collaboration with the local community and promote initiatives that contribute to sustainable tourism.
Specifically, HAKATA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU collaborates with local companies to participate in grass straw reuse projects, implementing measures that consider resource circulation. Additionally, HAKATA TOKYU REI HOTEL has adopted all-electric facility operations to reduce environmental impact, improving energy efficiency and curbing carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition to these initiatives, our activities through the daily operations and services of each facility were also evaluated comprehensively, resulting in this certification.
