Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival
- Event period
-
February 7th (Sat) - March 8th (Sun), 2026
The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival has become one of Izu's most famous festivals. The cherry tree was designated as the Kawazu town tree in April 1975.
Kawazu cherry blossoms are believed to be a natural hybrid of the early-blooming "Oshimazakura" and "Hikanzakura" varieties. They flower early, blooming for about a month from early February to early March, and are characterized by their large pink flowers.
During the cherry blossom festival, events are held all around the town, mainly in front of Kawazu Station, and the area is bustling with people coming to view the cherry blossoms. Just looking at the bright pink blossoms makes your heart leap with joy, as if to announce the end of the cold winter.
"Spring begins in Izu," so come and discover early spring.
