Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro"
Stage design by Kengo Kuma and costumes by Keita Maruyama (KEITAMARUYAMA designer)
An exquisite opera experience featuring the sounds of Mozart's time and the finest contemporary artists
The Mozart Opera Series, in collaboration with Meguro Persimmon Hall, located at Toritsu-daigaku Station on the Tokyu Line, will once again feature performances by the world-renowned Bach Collegium Japan (BCJ) orchestra and choir, led by Suzuki Masato, and featuring some of the finest singers.
The stage design, which will be the first in Japan by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma, is sure to be a highlight. Expectations are also high for the collaboration with Maruyama Keita, who will also be designing costumes for an opera for the first time, and the internationally sensible director Iizuka Reiji.
The chaos that arises from the class system of the past, the various power balances of the present, and the jumble of people's intentions is a constant part of human nature, no matter the era. This masterpiece, filled with joy and sorrow, is lovingly depicted in a "fictional hotel" featuring a motif reminiscent of The Capitol Hotel Tokyu (designed by Kengo Kuma).
