Galette des rois is a French pastry eaten on Epiphany. In France, at the start of the new year, families and friends are invited to share a slice of the pastry, and whoever finds the small ceramic figurine called a fève (meaning broad bean) hidden inside is said to have good fortune for the year. They then become the king or queen of the party, wear a paper crown, and are celebrated.
