What is a sheetoya?
Sugarcane was squeezed out with a large iron gear (seato-guruma) pulled by a horse or ox, and the juice was boiled in a large pot to make brown sugar. The residue (bagasse) was used as fuel. In modern sugarcane harvesting, large harvesting machines called harvesters are becoming more and more popular to reduce heavy labor and alleviate labor shortages.
