He is a music producer, DJ, music selector, composer, author, radio DJ, and owner of The Room. His album "ECLIPSE," released in 2000 under the name KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, topped the charts on BBC Radio ZUBB for three consecutive weeks. He has been invited to perform as a DJ and artist in over 140 cities in 40 countries. In 2006, he released his first solo album, "United Legends." In 2009, he won the GOOD DESIGN Award for music supervision for the United Cinema Toyosu, designed by Intentionalies. In 2015, he launched the jazz project KYOTO JAZZ SEXTET. He released the album "MISSION" on the prestigious Blue Note label, and in June 2017, KYOTO JAZZ SEXET's second album, "UNITY," was released. That same year, he also performed on the Field of Heaven stage at the Fuji Rock Festival. In July 2018, he performed as a DJ at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In 2021, he completed Kyoto Jazz Massive's second album, "Message From A New Dawn," after a 19-year hiatus. In 2022, he released Kyoto Jazz Sextet's third album, "SUCESSION," featuring jazz legend Takeo Moriyama, and performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL for the first time in five years. Starting in 2022, he will tour Europe as a band under the name Kyoto Jazz Massive with Echoes Of A New Dawn Orchestra. Kyoto Jazz Massive will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2024, and in June he will release the 30th anniversary EP, "KJM EOANDO." It reached No. 1 on the iTunes Dance album chart, and the track "Impulisive Procession" reached No. 1 on the Traxsource Broken Beat/Nu-Jazz chart. In December, he released the 30th anniversary compilation, "KJM COVERS." In July 2025, Kyoto Jazz Sextet released a new single, "DOSOJIN NO UTA." In October 2025, he launched a new event, "Tokyo Crossover Week." His books include "DJ Music Selection Techniques," "Introduction to Club Jazz," and his autobiography, "Occupation, DJ, 25 Years." He currently hosts the program on InterFM's "Tokyo Crossover Radio" (every Friday at 10 p.m.). He also oversees "Okino Shuya presents Music in the Room" on USEN Channel I-12.
DJ KAWASAKI
DJ/remixer/sound producer/composer. He made his international debut in 2005 with a 12-inch single from King Street. Eight of his singles have reached No. 1 in the iTunes Dance Chart in a row. In 2018, he launched his own label, "KAWASAKI RECORDS," which focuses on releasing 7-inch vinyl music.
On June 30th, 2021, he released his first original album in 11 years, "One World." Performed entirely live without any programmed tracks, he boldly incorporated elements of boogie and disco, successfully breaking new ground. On March 8th, 2023, he released his new album, "BRIDGE INTO THE FUTURE DJ KAWASAKI RECREATED TRACKS." His full-band live show at Cotton Club, featuring N'Dea Davenport and bird, celebrating his 30th anniversary as a DJ, was a huge success. He is currently hosting a monthly party, "MAGNETiC," at The Room (Shibuya), co-hosted with Shacho (SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS).
Leo Gabriel (NoNations, Connection)
He started working as a DJ in 2015. He is currently a member of his own party Connection and jazz collective NoNations. Inspired by his respected father Raphael Sebbag, he combines jazz with live sounds and freely crosses the boundaries of genres and rhythm formats. His play continues to evolve in his own way through his exploration of new and old sound sources and his sense of the times, and has the potential to reconnect disconnected generations of listeners. He may have inherited his father's style of always standing at the booth dressed in a dandy suit.
